I am sitting in the sun, enjoying the solar energies together with my Libyan stone. It feels like an extreme oddity here, cos Asians tend to hide in the shade, particularly with the influx of Chinese in recent years. It is also in China that I learnt of a term 阳伞, its literal translation being sun umbrella. I love the sun and outdoors too much to be able to comprehend why anyone would want to keep the sun out. In Singapore, we only have 雨伞, the literal translation being rain umbrella. They have that in China too, and they are different types of brollies! So it is not just four seasons of clothes, but different environmental tools at a personal level as well.
Language is so interesting. So many innuendos to discover the cultural context.
