Daily prompt is being very educational once again. I googled Wonder and saw that there’s a movie, and then ended up buying the book. I will take a while to read, and have a feeling it is going to be a teary-eyed experience, just judging from the author’s interview here. Sounds like a lot on kindness and a lot on perspectives, which is how I would love the world to have more of. Well, I shan’t judge the book by the movie trailer, author’s interview, and my own heart. I will keep the actual review till when I am done reading it. 🙂

On another note, I also read up about the Treacher Collins syndrome which is the condition Auggie has. It is a genetic disorder, and can be from the dominant or recessive gene depending on which gene is altered. This topic brings to light the shadows that have been lurking in my life (genetic conditions / disorders), insecurities that have been making my ponder much about life, about perspectives, about decisions, about responsibilities, about taking risks. Largely to do with decisions and weighing out what gives, what is important, what is more important, or who is more important.

I don’t think I’m quite ready to write it out here yet (I have been writing and deleting paragraphs for the past hour). Universe holds up the mirror in really weird ways. One can’t really always shove all insecurities under the carpet and say “hey Universe, I am sure you can bring me something better (best of both worlds)”.

  1. When you release what in your head, a burden will life. I’m sure you’re not the only one…

Yup, I think so too. The release sometimes also rationalises out the fear and then clarity ensues. I guess it is a matter of stepping up to face the monster (which may turn out to be an old rag doll).
Thanks for the note! I feel braver now~

  2. It’s intelligent of you to buy the book instead of going for the movie. I have read a lot about this book though haven’t read it. May be you could write a post when you finish the book, that would be great.

I osmosise books like drinking water… and it exercises my brains into imagining how things look. If a movie is based on a book, I normally will read the book first, and then go for the movie only after. Movies are a little like spoilers, it confines the mind into a fixed framework of another person’s perspective(s). So i prefer to have my own “fun” first. 😉 Yea, for sure, I will post a review. 😉

      1. I think the same about reading the book rather than watching the movie. You are very right that movies are like spoilers.
