Can’t do math, actually. But I can count the number of strokes in a Chinese character, like the one in the photo. The bonus inย Weekend Bonusย is that it is something different. ๐ We sometimes need a little jolt to shake things up a little, right?
Math was my best subject in school, but honestly, I really can’t do mathematics. I merely memorised all formulas, plucked the numbers in, and tried to do whatever I could with them (and then pray for the best). And we were allowed calculators in exams. If you ask me now about any logic in numbers… Errmmm… you will see an eclipse right across my face.
Someone used to ask me, “did you pass your Math in school?” It happened everytime he had to approve my claims.
“I used Excel.” Errrrmmm…
“And you … still got it wrong.”
Urghz. Now I deal with my own claims, and .. well, still the same story, just on a different day. Just a week ago, …
“You missed out $0.20 in the transfer.”
ARrrrrrrghssss. “I used Excel to calculate!”
“Errrm…”
Shrugs. I always think that nothing is impossible. When it comes to numbers, I really don’t know, it seemed impossible not to struggle. There’s a missing wire that I need to find to connect the dots in my head.
Eating out was very stressful for me in the US, as it takes multiplication and addition to complete a payment. Fortunately, the sweetest person in the world can count, so I just leave it to him to sort things out. When I was on my own, it was wayyyy easier to either do takeaways, or just cook at home (the most I needed to calculate was the amount of water, I suppose). 
It is reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who’s numerically challenged. Hahaha. ย HIGH-FIVE, PEEPS!!! I do have my fun with numbers, just that it takes 10 (or a hundred) times that of what most normal people would. Funny how it’s a different story when puzzles are put across in narrative form rather than in numerical form. We shall see, next time.

My best subject, too. My graduate work in the 90’s emerged from the discovery that three preceding grad students (including a Doctoral) had made errors in their maths. And that said, I hired two mathematicians to do the heavy-lifting with that part of my own work. ๐

Haha! I find it baffling how I can formulate / conceptualise the calculations for cities’ provisions, but when it comes to the actual number crunching, it’s really down to my juniors to check my work. ๐ฎ
Maybe the theorem is that numbers have to be **cross-checked**! ๐ whee~ Q.E.D.

Ah… I was thinking “quod erat demonstrandum” at the conclusion of a logical or mathematical argument. However, “quantum electro-dynamics” marked my descent into the mathematical nightmare of the “wave-function”… “ฮจ”. However, “Quite.Easily.Done,”… works for me! ๐
